Hyderabad, Sept. 22 -- Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday expressed serious concern over reports of a steep hike in US H-1B visa fees, warning that the move would severely impact Indian professionals, particularly those from Telangana's thriving IT sector.

Citing reports that the visa fee could touch nearly Rs 90 lakh (USD 100,000), the minister in a statement said such an unprecedented increase would have far-reaching consequences on India's tech talent pool, IT exports, and the aspirations of young professionals.

"The strength of Indo-US relations lies in the exchange of talent and technology. Such sudden, exorbitant hikes create uncertainty for our youth and global companies," he said.
