Hyderabad, Sept. 28 -- The Telangana Media Academy will organise a cheque distribution programme on Monday, to extend financial assistance from the Journalists' Welfare Fund to 18 families of deceased journalists and seven journalists affected by illness or accidents.

Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao said the initiative, held under the theme "Journalists' Welfare - Public Government's Priority," is aimed at supporting the families of journalists who lost their lives, as well as those who are unable to work due to adverse circumstances. The financial aid is being provided from the interest earned on the Journalists' Welfare Fund.
