Hyderabad, July 8 -- Telangana handloom sector received national recognition as two of its talented artisans were selected for the prestigious National Handloom Awards-2024, announced by the Ministry of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of India.
Minister for Handlooms and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao congratulated the winners and expressed pride over their achievements.
Out of 19 awardees across the country, Telangana's Gajam Narmada and Guda Pawan have made the state proud with their exemplary contributions to the handloom industry. Gajam Narmada, hailing from Puttapaka village in Sansthan Narayanapuram mandal of Yadadri district, was recognised for achieving a remarkable turnover of Rs 8 crore in the handloom marketing sector.
