Hyderabad, Oct. 18 -- The statewide bandh called by the Backward Classes (BC) Joint Action Committee (JAC) demanding a fair share of 42 percent reservations for BCs in the upcoming local body elections brought Telangana to a standstill today.
Except for essential services, almost all sectors remained shut as political parties across the spectrum - including Congress, BJP, BRS, CPI, CPM, TJS, CPI (M) New Democracy, and Maoist outfits - extended their support. Several community, student, tribal, minority, and public organisations also joined hands with BC associations in observing the bandh.
