Hyderabad, May 2 -- Telangana Backward Classes (BC) and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has set a role model for the nation by enacting a landmark law providing 42 percent reservation in political, educational, and employment sectors for Backward Classes.
He said that prior to the legislation, the Telangana government had conducted an empirical study and gathered authentic data. A sub-committee was constituted, the cabinet approved the proposal, and the legislature passed the bill. It was subsequently sent to the Centre for approval. The Governor examined the legal aspects and forwarded it to the President of India.
