Hyderabad, Sept. 20 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said that the Congress government is committed to making women financially stable and powerful, with plans to spend crores under various welfare and empowerment initiatives.

Speaking at a programme in Jubilee Hills constituency, where interest-free loans worth Rs 41.51 crore were distributed to 8,130 women through Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), the Deputy CM said the state government aims to make one crore women millionaires in the next five years.

He recalled that despite criticism, the government had already provided Rs 21,632 crore in interest-free loans to women's groups in the first year itself.
