Hyderabad, Oct. 9 -- Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has reiterated that the state government will conduct the upcoming local body elections with 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs), making Telangana the first state in the country to implement such a measure.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday evening, the minister said the government has strongly defended its stand before the High Court and is determined to uphold social justice.

"We are going to the polls with 42 per cent BC reservation as promised. The government has argued forcefully in court, and we are confident that justice will prevail," Ponnam Prabhakar said.
