Hyderabad, Aug. 20 -- Telangana Health and Medical Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has directed the Drug Control Authority (DCA) to take strict action against companies making misleading claims about medicines.

Chairing a review meeting on the functioning of the DCA at the Indian Institute of Health and Wellness Centre in Vengalrao Nagar today, the Minister said stringent measures must be enforced to ensure the availability of quality medicines.

DCA Director General Shahnawaz Qasim briefed the Minister on the department's performance.

He said that 25,939 inspections were carried out in 2024, leading to action against 4,142 companies for violations.
