New Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov. 24 -- Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has urged the union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to expedite clearances for key irrigation projects in the state, including the Gauravelli project.

The Minister met union Forest and Environment Secretary Tanmay Kumar in New Delhi on Monday, accompanied by Secretary (Coordination) Gaurav Uppal.

During the meeting, Prabhakar explained the status of ongoing irrigation works in Telangana and stressed the need for swift environmental and forest approvals.

He informed the Secretary that the Supreme Court had recently withdrawn the Vanashakti verdict delivered in May 2025, which had earlier impacted the approval process. With this ...
