Hyderabad, May 28 -- In a major relief to farmers affected by hailstorms and unseasonal rains over the past two months, the Telangana State Government has sanctioned Rs 51.528 crore as compensation for crop damage.

The decision follows a detailed damage assessment report submitted by the Agriculture Department under the instructions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

According to Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, officials have identified crop damage across 36,424 acres of paddy, 3,266 acres of maize, 470 acres of jowar, 6,589 acres of horticultural crops, 4,753 acres of cotton, and 477 acres under other crops, including those affected by life-threatening floods.
