Hyderabad, May 10 -- The Telangana Government has initiated a comprehensive expansion plan for development of nine new mining projects for Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to ensure long-term energy security, sustain coal production and protect employment opportunities.
The initiative is aimed at offsetting production losses expected due to gradual closure of existing mines following depletion of coal reserves and to meet the growing energy requirements of the state.
The state government has directed SCCL to expedite preparatory activities and obtain all necessary statutory clearances at the earliest.
