Hyderabad, Jan. 11 -- Nearly a year after a tunnel roof collapse brought work to a halt, the Telangana government has decided to resume construction of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, adopting advanced tunnelling techniques to overcome geological challenges and meet long-pending deadlines.

Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the decision after chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Irrigation Department at the Secretariat here on Sunday.

The SLBC works had remained stalled since February 22, 2025 following a major cave-in inside the tunnel.
