Hyderabad, Oct. 9 -- Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today reaffirmed the state government's commitment to providing 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, following the High Court's interim stay on GO No. 9.

In a statement, he said, "After receiving a copy of the High Court's order, we will decide on the future course of action both legally and constitutionally."He added that the government had conducted a comprehensive caste survey, set up a dedicated commission and sub-committee, obtained cabinet approval, enacted legislation in the Assembly, and amended the Panchayat Raj Act, 2018, to implement BC reservations.
