Hyderabad, Sept. 12 -- Telangana SC, ST, Minority and Disabled Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday announced that the state government has released over Rs 24 crore towards pending dues and staff remuneration in tribal and social welfare departments, while also launching new initiatives for students.

Addressing a press conference at the Dr B R Ambedkar Secretariat here, the Minister said that pending dues of Rs 11 crore in Tribal Welfare had been cleared, rectifying the negligence of the previous government.

He added that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promptly responded to the grievances of employees and students by appointing senior IAS officer Savyasachi Ghosh as Special Secretary for Welfare Hostels.
