Hyderabad, March 7 -- In a major relief for Telangana RTC employees, the state government on Friday announced a 2.5 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA).
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar issued orders to this effect on Friday, stating that the increase would benefit around 30,000 RTC employees. The move places an additional Rs. 3.6 crore burden on RTC every month.
In addition to the DA hike, the government also decided to clear long-pending DA arrears. The decision comes after RTC employees recently issued strike notices, demanding better pay and working conditions. Among the 22 demands submitted by the workers, the DA hike was a key concern. With the latest announcement, the government hopes to address their grievances.
