Hyderabad, March 19 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the state government is committed to transforming agriculture into a profitable profession and making farmers the "kings" of all occupations.
Speaking at the Sri Parabhava Nama Ugadi celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi here, Reddy said the new Telugu year is dedicated to farmers' welfare and the government is taking steps to strengthen the agriculture sector.
He announced that 'Rythu Bharosa' financial assistance will be released and credited to farmers' accounts on March 22, adding that the government has already spent Rs18,000 crore under the scheme.
The state is also providing bonuses in addition to remunerative prices to support farmers, he said.
