Hyderabad, March 31 -- In a historic move, Telangana has entered the global rice export market with its first shipment of rice to the Philippines.

Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy flagged off the consignment from Kakinada Port on Monday, marking a major step in the state's efforts to tap into international markets for its surplus paddy.

Speaking to the media, Reddy announced that 12,500 metric tonnes of rice had been dispatched, highlighting the significance of this achievement for Telangana's farmers and agriculture sector.
