Hyderabad, Jan. 20 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) under Telangana Police has introduced a citizen-centric system enabling FIR registration and recording of initial victim statements at the victim's residence or place of choice, aiming to ensure quicker and more compassionate access to justice.

The new procedure will be implemented in specified categories of offences where victims or informants are often in a vulnerable or traumatic condition and may not be physically or mentally prepared to visit a police station.
