Hyderabad, Feb. 2 -- The Planning Commission officials have submitted the Caste Census Report to the Cabinet Sub-Committee, following the completion of a 50-day caste census survey in Telangana.

The survey, conducted by 1,03,889 enumerators, covered 96.9 percent of families across the state, with officials clarifying that 3.1 percent of the population did not participate. The report states that a total of about 3.54 crore people were surveyed, revealing that the Backward Classes (BC) constitute 56.33 percent of Telangana's population.

A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, was held at the Telangana Secretariat on Sunday to discuss the findings.
