Hyderabad, Aug. 30 -- The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, decided to issue a Government Order (GO) providing 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections.

The decision effectively lifts the cap on reservations imposed by the previous government.

Briefing the media at the Secretariat, Revenue, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the reservation bills, earlier sent to the Governor through an ordinance, will be introduced and passed in the Assembly on Sunday.
