Hyderabad, Sept. 1 -- The Telangana Legislative Assembly has decided to hand over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed probe into the irregularities and failures surrounding the mega project.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced the decision late last night while responding to the debate on the Justice PC Ghose Commission report. He said the involvement of inter-state governments and central agencies like REC (Rural Electrification Corporation) and PFC (Power Finance Corporation) in the project made it necessary to entrust the investigation to the CBI, ensuring transparency and accountability.
