Hyderabad, Jan. 3 -- : Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has protected 12.17 acres of government land in Gandanguda village of Gandipet mandal, Ranga Reddy district from encroachment. The land worth Rs 1,200 crore, bearing survey No. 43 has been fenced off on Friday, an official release said here.

Out of a total of 26 acres of government land under the same survey number, the government had earlier allotted one acre for an electricity sub-station and another nine acres to the GHMC for waste dumping.

While these allocations were already in place, HYDRAA received complaints through its public grievance system from local residents stating that the remaining land was gradually being encroached upon.
