Nagarkurnool (Telangana), Jan. 24 -- In a major breakthrough against Left-wing extremism, the Nagarkurnool district police arrested two hardcore CPI (Maoist) cadres carrying a combined cash reward of Rs 28 lakh, along with three members of Maoist-affiliated front organisations, for allegedly attempting to revive Naxal activities in the Nallamala forest region and erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.

The arrests were made today at around 11:30 am, when police intercepted a car travelling from Mannanur to Achampet, according to District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Patil Sangram Singh Ganapatrao.

Five persons were taken into custody during the operation led by Achampet Circle Inspector A. Nagaraju.
