Hanumakonda (Telangana), March 8 -- On the occasion of MahaShivaratri, Union Minister and Telangana State BJP President Kishan Reddy offered special pooja at the thousand-pillared temple in Hanumakonda on Friday morning.

On this occasion, he inaugurated the reconstructed Kalyana Mandapam in the temple. After 18 years, the thousand-pillared Kalyana Mandapam became available.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that temples from Kashmir to Kanyakumari were destroyed during the Middle Ages.

''The Tughlaq army destroyed the Ramappa temple and Warangal fort. Almost 132 pillars were used in the renovated Kalyana mandapam. The sculptural art of the Kakatiyas was amazing. Need to protect those structures,'' he added.
