Hyderabad, Sept. 22 -- The Farmers' Commission today held a meeting at its office to deliberate on major challenges faced by farmers in Telangana and the reforms needed in the agriculture sector.

The meeting was chaired by Commission Chairman Kodanda Reddy and attended by Professor Haragopal, agricultural economist D Narasimha Reddy, Commissioner Bhavani Reddy, Gadugu Gangadhar, Bhumi Sunil, Secretary Gopal and senior agriculture officials.

Discussions focused on issues such as fake seeds, spurious pesticides, excessive use of urea, lack of remunerative prices, the brokerage system in markets, promotion of organic farming and expansion of horticultural crops.
