Hyderabad, Feb. 5 -- In a major relief to Gram Panchayats in Telangana, the Central Government has issued orders releasing Rs 259.36 crore as the first instalment of 15th Finance Commission funds for village development.

The release follows sustained efforts by State Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, according to an official statement on Thuesday.

The funds, which had been stalled for nearly two years due to delays in Gram Panchayat elections, were cleared after the completion of the polls.
