Hyderabad, Dec. 11 -- As many as 396 sarpanchs and 9,633 ward members have been elected unopposed in phase-I of the Gram Panchayat elections in Telangana.
In the second phase elections, 495 villages have already elected their representatives unopposed.
While a total of 4,236 GPs have been notified for polls, now 3,834 will go for polls on Thursday as the remaining have been elected unanimously as only single nominations were left in the race by the last date of withdrawal on December 3, according to details released by the Commission (SEC) here on Wednesday.
A total of 12,960 candiates will be in the race for these sarpanch posts in the Phase-I.
