Hyderabad, May 30 -- As many as 17 cadres of the CPI (Maoist) party surrendered before the police and CRPF personnel at Kothagudem district on Friday.
The Maoists who surrendered included two area committee members, four party members and 11 militia members, according to Kothagudem district Superintendent of police B Rohith Raju.
They surrendered after being attracted to the welfare measures under 'Operation Cheyutha', the SP said.
In this year, as many as 282 Maoists of various ranks surrendered to the Kothagudem district police.
