Lucknow, Aug. 29 -- A major controversy erupted in the state capital when a farmer was allegedly assaulted by municipal officials during a land eviction drive in the Maste Mau area under the jurisdiction of Lucknow Zone-4.
The incident occurred on August 25, when a team from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, accompanied by police, arrived to clear what they described as encroached government land.
According to the FIR filed at Sushant Golf City police station, the victim, Ram Milan, a resident of Mirzapur village, claimed that Deputy Tehsildar Ratnesh Srivastava slapped him during an argument over the eviction.
