Siliguri, Sept. 16 -- Vehicular movement between Darjeeling hills and the rest of the country was today suspended until further notice after the Teesta overflowed, causing flood-like situation and inundating roads at key points of Teesta Bazar under Kalimpong district.

The link to uphills Sikkim from Siliguri remained open, however, vehicular movement on both sides of SH12 towards Darjeeling was halted after the river water crossed the road near Rabijhora.

The authorities alerted people living along the river banks.

A separate report from Rangpo, the gateway of Sikkim, said incessant rain in the region for the past 24 hours triggered landslides.
