Tech parks face heat over Bengaluru flooding
Bengaluru, May 21 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday directed Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials to take strict action against encroachments on storm water drains by major tech parks and private builders following heavy rains and severe flooding in Bengaluru earlier this week.
The Chief Minister, who undertook a tour of rain-affected areas in the city, expressed displeasure over the rampant encroachment of natural storm water channels by real estate developers, regardless of their influence or stature. He cited Manyata Tech Park, Ebisu Tech Park, Manpho Convention Centre and Karle as examples, where illegal constructions were reportedly obstructing the free flow of rainwater.
