Ranchi, Sept. 27 -- The All Jharkhand Primary Teachers' Association (AJPTA) has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging its September 1, 2025 judgment that made the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory for teacher appointment and serving before minimum qualification norms were introduced under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
The ruling, applied retrospectively, has caused unrest among teachers, affecting nearly 30,000 educators in Jharkhand and lakhs across the country. The association has urged the apex court to reconsider its decision in light of the 2010 notification by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and other applicable laws.
