Ranchi, Dec. 8 -- Under a nationwide campaign launched by the Teachers Federation of India (TFI), the Akhil Jharkhand Prathamik Shikshak Sangh on Sunday submitted memoranda to several Members of Parliament from Jharkhand, urging the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter of mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

The move follows the Supreme Court's September 1 decision mandating that all teachers appointed prior to the enforcement of the RTE Act must either clear the TET or be exempted from service and promotion a ruling that has triggered widespread resentment among teachers across Jharkhand.
