Kolkata, March 22 -- The Bangiya Shikshak o Shikshakarmi Samiti has appealed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding that teachers and non-teaching education staff be brought under the ambit of the Seventh Pay Commission.
In a written application to the chief minister, the organisation urged the state government to take immediate action on the issue.
The letter comes after the chief minister during her budget speech in February had announced the formation of the Seventh Pay Commission.
However, as per her statement in the Assembly, the benefits appeared to be primarily intended for government employees, with no clear mention of teachers, education staff, or employees of government-aided institutions.
