Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal today raised serious concerns over alleged government interference and irregularities in the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections scheduled for October 6.

Tamim said he had met with the sports adviser and emphasised that he was not seeking any personal benefit but only a fair election. He expressed dismay at what he described as unacceptable practices at district, divisional, and club levels, suggesting that government influence appeared to be affecting the process. He pointed out that the election commission was formed on September 6 and insisted that all election matters should go through it.
