Durgapur, Dec. 13 -- Woman Grandmaster Nandhidhaa P V of Tamil Nadu defeated WIM Srishti Pandey of Maharashtra in an exciting battle to clinch Indian Oil 51st National Women Chess Championship 2025, for the second consecutive year on Saturday.
She scored 9.5/11 and finished a half point ahead of the rest and became richer by Rs 7,00,000 by defending the title.
The minor piece endgame seemed to be heading towards a draw when Srishti who was spoiled for choices, made an inaccuracy which cost her the game.
WGM Mary Ann Gomes of PSPB drew against WGM Varshini V of Tamil Nadu to finish second with 9 points out of 11 rounds, a half point behind the champion who scored 9.5 points.
