Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu), April 21 -- A lower court in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu on Monday sentenced a sitting Congress MLA, S.Rajesh Kumar and two others to three months of imprisonment for allegedly preventing government officials from performing their duties in 2014.
The case related to the encroachment of 'Kalam Poramboke' land by one Joseph, his son Pauldurai and daughter-in-law Subitha for constructing a house. A team of revenue officials inspected the encroached land based on a complaint and found that the land was illegally occupied by Joseph and his family members.
