Chennai, Sept. 29 -- In the wake of the tragic stampede at Karur that claimed 41 lives, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin today announced that the state government would formulate rules and guidelines for political rallies and public events.

Following the submission of the report by the Justice (Retd) Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry, consultations will be held with political parties and other stakeholders to frame these rules and guidelines, he said in a video message posted on his 'X' handle.

The Commission was constituted hours after the tragedy struck on September 27 during the massive rally of actor-turned-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Karur.
