Kabul, July 30 -- The Taliban has declared its decision to release all 1,000 government prisoners by the up coming Eid festival. Spokesman for the Taliban's Qatar office Suhail Shaheen tweeted on Wednesday night that the Taliban will release the remaining government prisoners by Eid as a "goodwill" gesture. Under the US-Taliban peace deal that was signed in Doha late on February this year, the Afghan government agreed to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners, till now they have released more than 4,400. As per the Doha agreement the Taliban had agreed to release 1,000 captives, out of whom it has released more than 800 till now.
