Kabul, Jan. 28 -- The Taliban administration spent an estimated 96.9 billion Afghanis (USD 1.492 billion) on security during the first nine months of the 2025 fiscal year, according to a new report by the World Bank, amid the country's bid to tackle terror groups threatening to plunge Afghanistan back into political disarray, and ensure the continuation of law and order.

By contrast, development spending remained limited at 15.7 billion afghanis, while just over 106 billion afghanis went to civilian sectors and public services, the report said, according to Afghanistan International.
