Dhaka, March 11 -- A day ahead of the first sitting of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has urged the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to take oath as members of the Constitution Reform Council to pass the July Charter.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the opposition alliance's parliamentary committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday, Rahman said his party refused to accept the Deputy Speaker's post in what he described as a piecemeal arrangement.
He added that the positions allotted to the opposition will only be filled after the full implementation of the July reform proposals.
