Beijing, Nov. 28 -- Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks concerning Taiwan have sent a gravely wrong signal to "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday, while also blasting Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te's stunt in support of Japan.

Takaichi's remarks, which imply the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait, drew opposition and criticism from the international community and insightful individuals within Japan. However, Lai posted a photo on social media showing himself holding sushi made with Japanese seafood in a show of support for Japan.
