Beijing, July 31 -- The United States and Taiwan have completed technical consultations and reached consensus on tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers, Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reported on Thursday, citing Taiwanese government spokeswoman Michelle Lee.

Lee said that both sides "have reached a certain level of consensus," among other things, on issues such as tariffs, non-tariff trade barriers, investment and procurement, supply chain resilience, and economic security, the news agency reported.

The government's position during the talks was to "protect national and industrial interests, and ensure food security and public health," the official said.

"We will firmly uphold our position," Lee said.
