Indore, Oct. 7 -- In the wake of many children dying after consuming the poisonous cough syrup Coldrif in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district, the district administration has become active.

Collector Shivam Verma issued a directive that any doctor found to prescribe the banned cough syrup would have a First Information Report registered against him or her and be incarcerated.

The bureaucrat ordered the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and the Food and Drug Department to strictly monitor medical stores and children's hospitals.

Administrative teams are beginning an inquiry campaign from today in the city.

Drugs similar to the prohibited one shall also be probed.
