London, July 8 -- World No.1 Iga Swiatek eased into the quarterfinals of Wimbledon today with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Denmark's Clara Tauson, continuing her quietly effective run at The Championships and edging closer to her maiden title of the 2025 season.
Despite having topped the WTA rankings for 125 weeks - the seventh-longest reign in tour history - Swiatek has surprisingly gone without a title so far this year. But on the lawns of SW19, the five-time Grand Slam champion may be peaking at just the right moment.
Facing an ailing Tauson, who later revealed she had been sick overnight, Swiatek shook off a nervy start and two early breaks to dominate the second set on No.1 Court.
