Kolhapur, Dec. 10 -- Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) national chief and former MP Raju Shetty today demanded stern action from Sugar Commissioner on sugar mill owners for having defaulted on FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) payment amounting to Rs 2,000 crore from 163 sugar factories in the state.
In a letter to Sugar Commissioner, Pune , Shetty said that even after start of this year's sugar crushing season in the state, sugar millers haven't transferred FRP amount of Rs 2,000 crore in farmers' bank accounts.
He demanded to transfer the FRP amount in cane-producing farmers bank accounts immediately with 15 percent interest.
