Shimla, Sept. 8 -- India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain in nine districts of Himachal Pradesh today, even as the southwest monsoon has entered its waning phase.

Rain has been forecast across all districts except Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, with heavy showers likely at isolated places.

The Met office further said that the monsoon is expected to weaken gradually for three days starting tomorrow.

This season, Himachal has witnessed 45 percent excess rainfall compared to normal. Between June 1 and September 7, the state usually records 652.1 mm of rainfall, but this year the figure has touched 948.5 mm.
