Kolkata, Feb. 20 -- BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday was greeted with flowers and blowing of conch shells by the people on his arrival at the restive Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district as he was allowed by the state police following a Calcutta High Court order, official sources said.

Court sources said the division bench upheld its single bench order after the state government had moved against Justice Kaushik Chandra's order allowing the Opposition leader to go provided he would abide by the existing prohibitory orders.

Adhikari and CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat were stopped by the state police at Dhamakhali, some 3 km away from tense Sandeshkhali.
