Kolkata, Sept. 2 -- Speaker Biman Banerjee today suspended Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari from the West Bengal Assembly for the rest of the session for disrupting proceedings of the House.
The uproar began when BJP legislators, led by Adhikari, protested remarks made by state Education Minister Bratya Basu against the Army. Despite repeated warnings from the Speaker to maintain order, the BJP members insisted on withdrawal of the statement. As the ruckus continued, Adhikari was suspended, prompting BJP legislators to walk out of the House in protest.
