Kolkata, Feb. 15 -- After a sit-in-dharna at the portico of the West Bengal Assembly in protest against the suspension of five BJP MLAs, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday left for Sandeshkhali, the trouble-torn area of North 24 Parganas.

Nearly 19 places in and around Sandeshkhali are under prohibitory orders, which were imposed on Wednesday, a day after the Calcutta High Court cancelled the Section 144 Cr PC in the entire Sandeshkhali.

"I am a law-abiding citizen and moved into Sandeshkhali with four other legislators to meet the local people and party karyakartas who have been subjected to harassment and sexual assaults by the TMC goons," Adhikari told reporters before boarding a bus to Sandeshkhali.
